The Finnigan's Run Farm Story From historical farmland to horse farm & premier outdoor event venue
In 1996, Jana Murdock Wilson purchased a 30-acre parcel of beautiful farmland in the Wimberley Farms area of New Hill, NC, about 20 miles southwest of Raleigh. Jana is the great, great granddaughter of Albert Alexander Murdock, a farmer who started building his fortune in the 1870s by going west to Missouri and Illinois and bringing back horses to sell here in North Carolina. Five generations later, Jana is an avid horse lover, proud to carry on the Murdock family tradition. She had always dreamed of having a horse farm of her own. So, she built a horse barn and a farmhouse on her new property and made her dream a reality.
Jana chose another old family name to celebration her Irish heritage and dubbed her new farm “Finnigan’s Run”. Today, Jana shares the farm with her husband, Jayson, her daughter and son, Hayden and Cole, along with Kilbeggan, her Irish draft horse, and Lucy, the best rescue dog ever. Finnigan’s Run Farm remains an active horse farm, but the rustic yet elegant property has also become a premier farm venue for outdoor events of all types.
